The Zücker waffle, as it’s known in the United States, was invented during the
18th century in Belgium by the Prince of Liège’s chef who responded to the
demand of his master by asking for a new patisserie. The chef’s result was a
brioche like dough, flavored with vanilla and pearls of sugar that he baked
using a regular Brussels waffle iron. The vanilla and caramel aroma of the
waffle and its taste was a success not only with the prince but also to the rest
of his people. Nowadays, the Liège waffle is part of Belgian culture. The
mélange of sugar and vanilla makes the Zücker waffle richer in taste than its
cousin from Brussels, and makes it the perfect product to eat on the go
anytime of the day or night. The Zücker Waffle is an all-natural product with
no preservatives or additives. Baladoché is proud to be the first company in
the Chicagoland area to sell the authentic taste of the Zücker waffle by always
providing a freshly cooked product.
